Engineering leadership, from strategy to production

Former Big Four executive (PwC), I serve as CTO and provide executive oversight across Pendoah’s 100-person company, directly leading its 20-person AI engineering group. I connect product strategy, enterprise roadmaps, customer research and UX with architecture, customer delivery and production accountability. Earlier, as CIO of Perry Homes, I led a 45-person technology organization during growth from $800M to $1.71B. Across 23+ years, I have sold and implemented software and services for more than 100 enterprises.

How I Work

I start with the operating decision and the evidence it requires. Models handle bounded reasoning and generation; deterministic services own authorization, policy, accepted calculations, side effects, and audit. Human owners retain consequential release authority. Evaluation, production signals, and recovery evidence decide what moves forward.

Current CTO work in enterprise conversational AI

Across Pendoah and separate CTO engagements, I combine engineering management, forward deployed engineering, product strategy and customer analytics. In a current enterprise conversational AI engagement, I guide v3 architecture and stay close to implementation, tracing customer failures back to the tool, context or release behavior that caused them.

This agent improvement work turns production handoffs into an engineering backlog. It classifies knowledge versus workflow gaps, links each finding to conversation evidence, and assesses readiness against available tools. Reviewers approve changes and can reverse recorded runbook-access changes while preserving unrelated agent settings. Follow-up reporting calculates runbook usage and ticket handoff signals from stored run and ticket data after approval. Reviewed, gap and ready summaries help teams decide what to change. I designed and implemented the feature; its production rollout is scheduled.

Some current CTO engagements are delivered through Pendoah; others are direct personal engagements, and I describe them separately from Pendoah employment. Two separate venture-stage businesses have each crossed $1M ARR; those are company figures. The work includes product engineering and a healthcare platform turnaround through a delivered TestFlight beta and technical handover.
